Wei Ya Banquet is a traditional custom in southern Fujian. “Ya” is a ritual of worship the land god among Chinese folk on 2nd and 16th of every month of lunar calendar. On the second day of the second month of the lunar calendar, the first worship ritual is held, which is called “Head Ya” or “Tou Ya”; on the 16th day of the last lunar month, it is called “Tail Ya” or “Wei Ya”. “Tail Ya” symbolizes the end of the business year’s activities and the prelude to the Spring Festival activities of ordinary people. In order to thank for everyone’s hard work of a year, leaders will invite employees to a banquet at the end of the year. Now it refers to the gathering of enterprises and institutions before the Spring Festival holiday. Leaders entertain all employees to comfort them and enhance emotional bonds.
